Eight of Pentacles

One of my coworkers got me a tarot card deck for Secret Santa! I've been wanting to learn how to read Tarot for a while, and I thought that this would be a good way to learn more about them: Every day (or two.. or whenever) I'll pick a card, meditate on it, research it, and illustrate it.
Couldn't have asked for a better card to start with: The Eight of Pentacles. The original card portrays a man hammering at coins, turning his back to a town in the background. The card represents apprenticeship. It represents learning new skills and refining old skills, zeroing in on the finer details. It shows a worker, so tuned into their craft that they could miss what's going on around them. This illustration is a little bit of a self portrait! The pentacles are portrayed as stickers on a laptop (is that a cop out?) and the frontwoman is working away at her laptop (on this illustration? meta!) as the city continues to vibrate behind her.
